Only an SSI "Mike Lite" is authorized by the
U.S. Army for use in Army aircraft because they are the only Mike Lite that
meets ALL 20 Specifications outlined in the original R&D contract
*NVIS White is your best choice, followed
by soft white, for a light that will protect your central night vision and
provide a full spectrum of light. Green and Blue also protects your central
night vision, but blues and greens disappear within this color of light -
something for a pilot to consider prior to use. Red will protect your
peripheral night vision, but not central vision as efficiently as the soft
white, blue and green. Red lettering, road markers or images on charts will
also not be visible with red light, another consideration for the pilot to
consider when making a color choice.
MIL-STD-3009 was developed by the Department of Defense in February 2001 and superseded MIL-L-85762A. It specifies that NVIS White for crew cockpit and utility lighting. NVIS Green A is grand fathered into the cockpit for certain applications, but not for new applications.

Other Aviation Products of Interest
AN/AVS-9 Based on the military nomenclature AN/AVS-9. The M949 features Dual Tube Binocular viewing for optimized depth perception and large 25mm eyepieces that provides improved eye relief, accommodating operators wearing eyeglasses.
Cap Lites are similar to Mike Lites. They are a good source when needing to mount a light onto a "tankers" microphone boom (M138). However, these are great for hunting and fishing as well. Ever tried to tie a fishing lure at night and hold a flashlight? How about walking into or out of that favorite hunting spot in the dark. Very handy having light to see and be seen and have your hands free! Great for mechanics too.
Fingerlights
Seitz Scientific
Industries Inc. is the original manufacturer of the Fingerlight.
Only a Seitz "Lite" is authorized by the U.S. Army for use in Army
aircraft because only our Fingerlights meet all 17 specifications
outlined in the original R&D contract (Contract No.
DAAK60-90-C-0042).
FOD Bags as manufactured by Seitz Scientific Industries, Inc., the original maker of the Lip Lite (Lip Light), Mike Lite (Mike Light) and Fingerlight (Finger Light). As well as offering an assortment of FOD bags, we also will customize the FOD bag to your specifications to meet your needs and requirements. All bags can be made with your logo. ALL BAGS COME IN A CHOICE OF THREE FLUORESCENT COLORS: ORANGE, YELLOW OR GREEN.
Light
Sources are economic solutions for marking anything you need
temporary lighting to mark. Your imagination is the limit but here
are some of the most popular uses: marking temporary taxi lanes,
hover lanes, obstacles, hazards, check points on a route, mark
vehicles in a convoy, pick-up zone, landing zone, mark loads for
pick-up, mark "chalks", mark people and the list could go on. Do you
need to keep track of someone working around your aircraft while the
blades are turning? Place one of the IR blinking (LS-2) in any
exterior pocket and with your night vision goggles, you will easily
see and keep track of this crewmember. Great for MEDEVAC! Scout
pilots can throw them out to mark anything they see that needs
marking.
